What Does a Spiritual Psychology Coach Do?
Sep 11, 2026
What actually happens when you sit down with a spiritual psychology coach?
It is a question I get asked often, usually by someone who has already tried therapy, already read the books, and still feels like something underneath has not moved. People tend to assume a spiritual psychology coach is either a life coach with a nicer vocabulary or a therapist without the license. Neither is quite right. The training is different, and so is the aim.
Spiritual Psychology, the discipline in which I earned my Master's degree at the University of Santa Monica, holds that we are not simply minds to be managed. We are, as my training put it, divine beings having a human experience. A coach trained in this work functions less like an advisor handing out steps and more like what USM calls a facilitator of consciousness, someone who helps you meet your own awareness rather than someone who tells you what to do with it. The aim is what USM describes as co-creating authentic success on both the goal line and the soul line of life, the external results you can see and the internal alignment that makes those results actually feel like yours.
In practice, that starts with identifying the subconscious patterns that have been quietly shaping your relationships and your sense of self-worth, often for years, without your full awareness. From there, the work moves to healing attachment wounds and generational trauma at the root rather than managing them at the surface. Core limiting beliefs, the quiet stories that decided long ago what you were allowed to have, get named and transformed rather than argued with. And underneath all of it, we are building self-trust, emotional stability, and a kind of authentic leadership in your own life, the ability to stand in a decision or a boundary without needing someone else to approve it first.
This is not surface-level positivity. It is deep, soulful, practical work that gets to the root of what has been running beneath the surface, your spiritual curriculum, the lessons your soul chose to work through in this lifetime. A session might start with something as ordinary as a conflict with your partner or a wave of anxiety before a meeting, and end somewhere much older, an attachment wound from childhood, an exiled part of yourself still waiting to be welcomed back.
Underneath all of that sits more than a decade of therapeutic work I did with Theta Healing before I ever trained in Spiritual Psychology, work that taught me how to dig directly into the unconscious mind to find the core beliefs and misidentifications living there, the quiet vows and false self-images a client never consciously agreed to but has been carrying anyway. It is why I describe what I do as work in consciousness, part therapist, part Spiritual Psychology practitioner, though never a psychologist, since that is a different license altogether. Once those beliefs are surfaced, we do the deeper work of rewiring, repatterning, and restructuring inside consciousness itself, not just talking about a belief, but changing what is actually running underneath it.
I also bring in tools that a traditional coach or therapist typically would not, tarot as a tool for self-reflection rather than fortune-telling, and a daily prayer practice I call calling in the light. These sit alongside the more structural work, the pattern recognition, the nervous system awareness, the reparenting of the parts of you that never got what they needed the first time.
If you are still weighing whether this kind of work is the right fit, here is how Spiritual Psychology differs from therapy, and how it differs from traditional psychology.
If you have been doing the understanding on your own and you are ready for someone to walk the deeper part of the path with you, that is the work I was trained for. Book your free soul aligned call and let's discover what your own spiritual curriculum has been asking of you.
Curious how this shows up specifically in relationships? Here is how Spiritual Psychology helps heal relationship patterns.
