Childhood trauma doesn't just go away because you are aware of it.
Sep 13, 2022Does Awareness Alone Heal Childhood Trauma?
No. Awareness is the doorway, not the healing. Childhood trauma keeps manifesting as long standing patterns until you take the bold, dedicated step of uncovering the deeper layers of what occurred and what you came to believe about yourself because of it. How you relate to what happened is what creates lasting healing.
Not sure which pattern is running your life? Take my free 3-minute Sacred Pattern Decoder Quiz and find out what's underneath it.
You can know exactly where your patterns come from. You can name the moment, the parent, the house, the year. And you can still find yourself repeating the same pattern with the next partner, the next boss, the next friend.
That is not failure. That is how core patterning works.
Why Doesn't Knowing Where a Pattern Comes From Make It Stop?
Because the pattern was not formed in the thinking mind. It was formed in a child who was trying to stay safe and stay loved. The beliefs she made were simple ones. I am too much. I am not enough. Love leaves. I have to earn my place.
Those beliefs live below the level of understanding. They run quietly underneath your choices, your reactions and the people you are drawn to. Insight can point to them. It cannot dissolve them on its own.
In my training in Spiritual Psychology we learned that how you relate to the issue, is the issue. The event happened. What keeps it alive is the meaning we made of it and the parts of ourselves we exiled to survive it.
How Does Childhood Trauma Show Up in Adult Relationships?
Yes, I am a child abuse survivor. I am an advocate for Self Love. I share this because I know this territory from the inside.
I was stuck for years. I could not own my light or my power because of the warped viewpoint I had about myself from all the trauma. This manifested as patterns and issues in relationships.
I had major trust issues to overcome, and they showed up on the outside as trust issues with men.
The trauma was so deep that I doubted God loved me. I took it to mean my love was rejected, and I viewed life through the lens of I am broken.
For many people it shows up as people pleasing, choosing partners who cannot fully show up, bracing for rejection before it comes, or working so hard to be good that there is nothing left for yourself.
What Actually Heals Childhood Trauma Patterns?
Taking a soul centered approach to my healing opened the way. Spiritual Psychology is what healed it.
Applying loving to all the places inside that hurt completes the patterns. Not fixing them. Not forcing them. Loving them. Each exiled part of self that receives compassion instead of judgment stops needing to act out to be seen.
Compassionate self forgiveness released the judgments I had held against myself for what happened, and for how I coped. You can read more about how that works in How Does Spiritual Psychology Help You Forgive Yourself?
Being committed to my soul's growth and learning helped me stay the course. Trusting my process alongside coaching support, Spiritual Psychology tools, principles and practices helped me crack the code.
Where Do You Begin?
One of the ways I work with this is Age Stage Healing. We go back through each developmental stage of your life and heal what was missed at each one, so the child who made those early beliefs finally receives what she needed. When that younger self is met, the adult patterns begin to complete on their own.
This is deep, dedicated generational healing. It is not a quick fix, and it does not need to be.
Are you ready to crack the code to your patterns? If you are in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, or anywhere online, book your free soul aligned call and we will look at what is ready to heal.
These younger patterns often begin with the father wound and the mother wound. You can read more on my Father Wound and Mother Wound page, and when you are ready for support, Reparenting Your Inner Child is where we do this work together.
What Else Do People Ask About Healing Childhood Trauma?
How can childhood trauma show up in adult relationships?
It can show up as trust issues, difficulty owning your light or your power, people pleasing, and a lens of believing you are broken. All of these manifest as repeating patterns in relationships.
Why do I keep repeating the same pattern even though I understand it?
Because the pattern lives in the beliefs you formed as a child, below the level of the thinking mind. Understanding points to the pattern. Healing it takes meeting those younger parts of yourself with compassion.
What helps crack the code of long standing trauma patterns?
A soul centered approach, applying loving to the places inside that hurt, compassionate self forgiveness, commitment to your soul's growth, and coaching support with Spiritual Psychology tools, principles and practices.
